BREMONT EP 120 Spitfire Chronograph

[ Bremont ]

Bremont, successfully launched in 2007, offers a range of exceptional quality, highly-developed timepieces designed to exacting specifications with high
aesthetic values.

Bremont watches, although made using only fine-quality Swiss components hand-
assembled by the best watchmakers working from a dedicated atelier in Biel-
Bienne, contain an air of quintessential Britishness, derived from the brands
founders, brothers and aviators Nick and Giles English.

Following on from the ALT1 and BC ranges introduced in 2007, and the success of
the BC-S1 and the BC-S2 series, now comes the new EP120, named after and
inspired by a very special aircraft that first flew in 1942. MORE>>

The recently launched limited edition EP120 watch is named after (and contains
parts of) a famous 1942 Spitfire Mk V aircraft, which is possibly the most credited
WWII fighter in existence and is now based in Duxford in Cambridgeshire. It shot
down 6 German aircrafts on one day during 1942 in WWII, and the aircraft has
been used in films such as The Battle of Britain, and starred as the lead Spitfire in
Pearl Harbour and Dark Blue World. Some of EP120's original parts, saved during
restoration, are integrated into Bremont's EP120 range in beautiful ways,
including the dial and movement.

With a limited number of 120 to be made and each one unique, there has been
much interest in the beautifully hand finished time pieces.

The EP120 features a black DLC treated steel case and COSC certified movement
with a rotor hand-made out of the original EP120 Spitfire parts. It has a modified
13 ¼" BE-53AE Automatic Chronometer with 24 hour UTC function and 30 minute
Chrono 'Time of Trip' dial, which is also an original Spitfire part.

You may happen to see the new EP120 Spitfire watch on the wrists of its many
ambassadors and friends including Charley Boorman, Ewan McGregor, Jeremy
Clarkson, Bear Grylls, Orlando Bloom, Mike Golding and Jake Meyer, just to name
few.

I agree that there are many compelling watch choices, especially in the $10,000 plus price range. As far as the design of this particular Bremont watch, I am impressed. As far as price, it does seem high, but I am sure supply and demand will determine the actual selling price. The one thing I cannot stand, especially when discussing new watch companies, is copying of designs. Many newer watch companies are definitely guilty of biting other brand's designs, however I do not feel Bremont is one of the culprits.

WOW- This watch has left me speechless. Imagine, where else could 2 brothers, who are avaitors, not cabineteers, start a company a year ago, put together a watch encompassing parts of old planes, call it a limited edition and charge $11559 for each of the 100 or so they hope to sell, since they are giving away to "B, C & D List" Celebrities about 20 of the watches in a desperate hope to establish credibility of the brand and watch. I own real watches, who earned their bonafides over time; time like decades, scores and centuries with names like Patek, Vacheron and Breguet who have built significant watches that contributed to make the industry what it is today. These great men would not believe what has become of their chosen profession. I, personally would invest in a Seiko or a Nardin, a Zenith or in a Bell & Ross, Blancpain, Breitling or even a Casio before I would pay over $11,550 of my hard-earned dollars for a Bremont EP120.
