First Impression: Oris Pro Diver
The new Oris Pro Diver features a massive 51mm case. Normally I would consider the case size way too big, but in this case the size may actually help the functionality. A bigger watch should be easier to operate under water. An innovative safety system requires the rotating unidirectional bezel to be lifted before it can be turned. A vulcanized rubber ring has also been added to further increase its underwater usability. Titanium was used on the case and is the typical material for a watch that is designed to withstand water pressure at a depth of 1000 meters.
A black DLC-coated safety barrier was added to protect the crown and pushers, while still allowing them to be screwed into the case. This ensures water-resistance at extreme depths. And for those people who will actually use this for deep-sea diving, a self-regulating helium valve is included. This watch will surely be popular among divers. And at a retail of $3,700, it is more affordable than most professional dive watches. Although considering the enormous size of this timepiece, I doubt you will see anyone wearing this one out. This watch is clearly designed for professional use.
