JeanRichard 2TimeZones Zirconium

jeanrichard-2timezones-circonium-watch.jpg

La Chaux-De-Fonds based manufacture, JeanRichard, part of the Sowind Group, has released a preview of their new Worldtimer. It features a unique metal called Zirconium and it is powered by a new, modified version of their in-house movement, the JR1060. Instead of indicating the second timezone via an additional hand, this watch has an aperture at 12 o'clock that indicates the time digitally. The second timezone also features a day/night indicator. To control the second timezone, the crown on the left side of the case is used, and you adjust the city, using the city indicator window at 6 o'clock. This timepiece will be officially unveiled at the upcoming SIHH 2010, in Geneva, January 18th-22nd.

Press Release

With its innovative zirconium case, JeanRichard's latest 2TimeZones combines unusual materials with its in-house manufactured self-winding movement. Featuring a dual time zone, this limited edition of 249 pieces is an invitation to journey far and wide.

JeanRichard launched its 2TimeZones collection 2010, by unveiling this model in a metal called zirconium, the brand shows its commitment to perpetuate constantly the same innovative mindset as that of Daniel JeanRichard. The choice of zirconium also demonstrates JeanRichard's on-going research into unusual materials. Zirconium is a high-performance metal, almost unique in the world of watchmaking:more commonly used in medical equipment and supersonic aircrafts, it is extremely resistant to shocks, corrosion and high temperatures. It is light, and on top of these characteristics, its warm matt colour boosts the interest of this watch.

Combining bold design with a dual time zone function, the 2TimeZones Zirconium is equipped with a JeanRichard in-house manufactured calibre, entirely developed and produced in its own workshops. The JR1060 is a self-winding mechanical movement and includes a dual time zone indication. The first time zone is displayed in a traditional way, with the central indication of hours, minutes and seconds. A window at 12 o'clock displays the second time zone, supplemented by an AM/PM indication. Reading the second time zone is made easier with this added disc. As only twelve numbers are indicated on the second time zone disc, they can be double the size compared with the traditional twenty-four number display. An astute mechanical device makes it possible to operate the hour hand backwards and forwards simply by pressing the two pushers at 8 and 10 o'clock. This audacious system means that the traveller can change the hours independently from the minutes under all circumstances and easily adjust to local time without having to remove the watch from his wrist. A real must in today's moving world! A second aperture at 6 o'clock displays a choice of 24 reference cities for the different time zones. Two screwed crowns located respectively at 3 and 9 o'clock help balance the watch aesthetically. The 3 o'clock crown serves to wind up the watch, correct the date and set the time. The city indication can be altered with the second crown located at 9 o'clock.

Water-resistant to 10 atm and fitted with luminescent hands and indexes, the 2TimeZones Zirconium is available with either a rhodium-coated or a black powdered effect stamped dial. Last but not least, the strap is in rubber-coated alligator, thereby contributing to the comfort and unique personality of the watch. A further demonstration of how JeanRichard is concerned by the most minute detail. 2TimeZones: the definitive design for intense moments.
