New Omega Speedmaster Moonphase unveiled at Baselworld

Introduced at Baselworld last week, these are the two new versions of the Omega Speedmaster collection, which now feature Moonphase complications. The metal bracelet version (is shown above) and the black leather strap version (is shown below).

The movement, Omega caliber 1866, is a manual-winding chronograph with moonphase, which runs at 21,600 vph (3hz) and features a Glucydur balance. Power reserve is 45 hours.

The display features central hour-minute hands and small seconds at 9 o'clock. The chronograph seconds is displayed in the center, the 30-minute recorder is at 3 o'clock, 12-hour recorder is at 6 o'clock. The moonphase (disc indication) and date (hand indications at 12 o'clock.

The case is stainless steel and measures 44.25 mm in diameter and 14.07 mm in height. Water-resistance is 100 meters. The case is both polished and brushed. The bezel features a black ceramic ring, with tachymeter scale. The crown and pushers are polished, with Ω embossed on the crown. The sapphire crystal is box-form scratch-resistant and it has anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The caseback is screw-in and polished with a sapphire crystal.

The dial is a blackened aventurine, with applied indices, 2 SuperLuminova dots at 12 o'clock. The moonphase disc is black aventurine, and under the date subdial is etched with Ω OMEGA.

The hands feature Superluminova on the hour, minute and central chrono seconds. The chrono and small-seconds subdial hands are rhodium-plated. And there is a special date hand.

The bracelet and strap are both 21 mm between the lugs and 18mm at the clasp. The metal bracelet is polished and brushed with an Omega patented screw-and-pin bracelet with special fold-over clasp with polished Ω logo and striated push-button. The length of the bracelet can be easily adjusted in 4 x 1.5 mm steps by pressing the push button for added wearer comfort. Also available with an integrated black alligator strap on polished foldover clasp.

Aventurine glass is a type of glass produced by the deliberate addition of metal oxide during founding so that the crystals formed create the shiny reflective effect on the glass.
