Patek Philippe opens new production center in Vallée de Joux

Patek Philippe recently opened a new production facility in Le Brassus, which is in the Vallée de Joux (famous for fine watchmaking, and home to brands such as: Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Breguet, Blancpain). The new facility houses 25 watchmakers, and according to the press release, this location allows Patek to be close to the Vallée's specialized schools. Patek's facility was previously located in Le Sentier, which is also within the Vallée de Joux. In fact, Le Sentier is only about five minutes away from Le Brassus.

Hands-On with the A. Lange & Söhne Richard Lange Tourbillon 'Pour le Mérite'

Jason Pitsch

This is only the fourth A. Lange & Söhne model to be given the distinguished title "Pour le Mérite." It features a fusée-and-chain transmission (which only a few watch manufactures are even capable of producing) as well as a tourbillon with a patented stop second mechanism. Both complications, which are rarely seen together in the same timepiece, share the same goal, to improve rate stability and precision. A regulator dial further distinguishes the newest member of the Richard Lange family. The dial configuration originates from precision regulators that were used since the 18th century, for calibration of timekeeping services and observatories, and even manufactures for synchronizing new watches. To prevent confusion of the hour and minute hands, especially under less than ideal light conditions, they were positioned on different axes of the dial. Another very unique feature of this timepiece

Feature: Edifice Black Label 3D Chronograph

Casio has been selling Edifice watches abroad for a while now, but it wasn't until this year that they began selling the Edifice line in the US. The new Edifice Black label collection consists of watches starting at $150 all the way up to $500. The 3D Chronograph has a stainless steel case with black PVD coating, which is both good looking and scratch resistant. It features a dial with a multiple layers, giving it a cool 3 dimensional look. As is typical on Casio/Edifice watches, it features an array of displays and functions, including a chronograph that can read 1/1000th of a second, an alarm function, a date function and a worldtime function.

Feature: Linde Werdelin 3-Timer GMT

I recently had tested a Linde Werdelin 3-Timer GMT. Two hour hands and a 24-hour bezel allow three timezones to be displayed simultaneously, hence the name "3-Timer." This particular version comes with a steel case, green dial (although it looks almost black in most light), and a black textured leather strap.

Breitling Transocean Chronograph Caliber 01

Breitling has just announced another model that will include their robust in-house caliber B01 movement, the Transocean Chronograph Caliber 01. Unlike previous Breitling models that have been retrofitted with the new B01 Caliber movement, this is an all new timepiece. It pays tribute to the classic chronographs of the 1950s and 1960s, however, it has been designed with a contemporary style. The case is 43 mm and features an open caseback, like the new Navitimer that was released earlier this year. Except, unlike the Navitimer, the Transocean has a truly vintage feel.

SIHH 2011 Preview: Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931

These are world exclusive images of the soon to be released Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Tribute to 1931, which will be officially unveiled during SIHH 2011 in January. The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 is an emblematic model that is inspired by the vintage piece that is in the brand's Heritage Gallery in the Vallée de Joux. Note that there is no Jaeger-LeCoultre brand name on the dial - just the Reverso, as in the past. This is a very cool vintage inspired piece that I expect to be a very hot seller at the upcoming SIHH show in Geneva, which starts January 17, 2011.
