The Navitimer Montbrillant 01 Limited Edition Edition is a retro style timepiece that was inspired by Breitling designs from the 1940s and 1950s. In keeping with the style of the time period, Breitling chose to use a smaller diameter case (40 mm), a retro dial and case design, and the “B” Breitling logo on the dial (the brand’s official logo in the first half of 20th century).

Although the timepiece’s design is vintage inspired, the materials and all components are based on the most current watchmaking technology. The movement, for example, is powered by Breitling’s robust in-house self-winding chronograph movement, the Caliber 01. It features a column-wheel for smooth actuation of the chronograph function, 47 jewels, and a large 70-hour power reserve.

The dial is made of Mercury silver, with indices/numerals, hands and markings that are reminiscent of the time period. The bezel is bidirectional and includes the prerequisite Navitimer circular slide-rule bezel. The sapphire crystal is cambered, and has an anti-reflective coating. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback.

The steel case is limited to 2000 pieces, the rose gold case is limited to 200 pieces. Both versions have the limited edition number engraved on the case flank. There is an option of the a barenia leather strap, crocodile leather strap (top picture), steel Navitimer bracelet or Air Racer bracelet (shown above). Water-resistance is 30 meters.

Retail $8,540 (Air Racer bracelet)
