Gustafsson & Sjögren recently announced a watch and knife set that incorporate Damascus steel.
“Damascus steel describes a type of steel used in swordmaking from about 300 BC to 1700 AD. These swords are characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be not only tough and resistant to shattering, but capable of being honed to a sharp and resilient edge.”

The Vile & Oden watch and knife are available as a limited edition set. According to Nordic mythology Vile and Oden where gods and brothers.

The founder, Johan Gustafsson, is a bladesmith who specializes in creating beautiful Damascus steel. He has carried his skills over to watchmaking and now creates watch cases and dials in Damascus steel. The Vile watch dial, crown, and lug screws are in Damascus steel.

Powering the watch is a Swiss ETA Unitas 6498-1 manually wound movement (visible through a clear case back). The Oden knife is a standard folding-blade style piece completely done in Damascus steel. The blade and handle parts are all done using different styles of Damascus steel.
