J. Crew and Tourneau resurrect Mougin & Piquard watch brand
French watch brand Mougin & Piquard (Mooj-awe & Peek-are), originally founded in 1852, has recently been resurrected as part of a collaboration between J. Crew and Tourneau.
Based on design sketches in the Mougin & Piquard archives, the brands worked together to produce the Grande Seconde collection of vintage-inspired 1920s style pilots watches.
The Grande Seconde comes in a 41 mm diameter steel case with a steel crown and screwed case back with acid engraved markings. The crystal is a box-type plexiglass, as seen on watches from the 20s. Available in a black or white varnish dial. Printed Arabic numerals (Superluminova on black dial). Hour and minutes hands with Superluminova. Central "Grande Seconde" hand. Inner hours dial, outer minutes and seconds dial. Hand assembled in small-batch editions at an atelier in Bienne, Switzerland, using Swiss Ronda 513 quartz.
Water-resistance is 30 meters. Leather strap with signed steel buckle. Available here.
