During my last trip to Switzerland, I visited my favorite Zurich watch boutique, Maurice de Mauriac. Founded by Daniel Dreifuss over a decade ago, Maurice de Mauriac is a watchmaker, which operates out of a combined atelier (assembly workshop) and retail store. This unconventional format, offers customers a unique bespoke purchase experience.

Dreifuss says, you can order timepieces via the web or phone, but for the best experience he recommends coming to his store which is located in the financial district of Zurich. In person, it is easier to choose from the vast array of cases (which come in a variety of sizes and shapes), custom bezels (steel, gold, titanium, black diamonds) and straps (Nato, leather, textile, Hermes). Once you start pairing different straps, with the variety of cases, dials and bezels, you realize that there are infinite combinations. Prices are very fair; movements, cases and components are sourced from the best Swiss companies, even the straps have been carefully selected from the best strapmakers in Switzerland and around the world.
