Introducing the Victorinox Swiss Army Infantry Mechanical. Unveiled earlier this year at Baselworld 2012, the Infantry Mechanical is presented in a 40 mm x 10 mm fully polished stainless steel military inspired case.
The dial comes in either dark grey (shown) or silver white. It features easy to read printed Arabic numerals, with a 24-hour inner ring (which is one all Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces) and allows you to read military time at a glance. Functions include hours, minutes, central seconds and date (at 3 o'clock). Luminescent hour hand, minute hand and hour markers.
Flat extra thick scratch resistant triple coated interior anti-reflective sapphire crystal, with fixed stainless steel bezel. A see-through case back allows a view into the self-winding base ETA 2824 movement. Water-resistant to 100 meters (non-locking crown). Brown leather strap with beige contrast stitching. For maximum comfort the strap is outfitted with a leather buckle cover, reminiscent of the wrist protectors on mid-20th century military watches.
The Infantry Mechanical is an attractive and highly affordable Swiss made automatic with a case that is reminiscent of a vintage Rolex Explorer I. Available Fall 2012. The retail price is $650. (Also available in quartz three-hand model and chronograph, for $395 and $550 respectively.)
