Tissot Seastar Navigator Chronograph

December 25, 2013

Finding a vintage mechanical watch in a case that measures 38 mm or above (pretty much the starting size for a men’s modern wristwatch), is not an easy task. As you may already know, in the 1950s, 60s and 70s - men’s wristwatches were much smaller, and so finding a larger modern sized watch from that era — can be quite difficult. Especially if you want one in good working condition.

Today, we found just that: a 1970s Tissot Seastar Navigator Chronograph in a 40 mm stainless steel cushion case, and in good condition. It has a silver dial, with orange and red chronograph hands. Light blue paint marks the first 5-minutes of the 30-minute chrono counter further enhancing this cool and very colorful dial. A square aperture at 6 o’clock displays the date. Inside is a manually wound Valjoux 7734 movement which powers the time, date and chronograph functions. This is a good find, and as far as a 1970s chronograph, in a 40 mm case, they are few and far between.

Includes original steel bracelet with signed clasp. Unsigned crown. Acrylic crystal.
