Earlier today in Moscow, A. Lange & Söhne inaugurated its first Russian boutique. To mark the occasion Lange has launched a new version of the Langematik Perpetual. For the first time, the Langematik will be available in a white-gold case with a black dial.

Once the Langematik’s perpetual calendar function is correctly set, the date display (day/month/year) only needs to be corrected one day every hundred years. It recognizes the different number of days from month-to-month, including leap year (a prerequisite of a perpetual calendar). The calendar displays can be advanced collectively or individually.

The moonphase indication is so precise, it only deviates from the true position of the moon by one day every 122.6 years, assuming the watch runs uninterrupted, of course.

The juxtaposition of the black, solid-silver dial, with the white gold case, and the rhodium gold hands and applied Roman numerals, is sublime.

The Langematik Perpetual is powered by the L922.1 SAX-0-MAT caliber which is equipped with a bi-directional micro-rotor in 21-carat gold with a platinum centrifugal mass. It has 478 components (43 jewels) and the power reserve is 46-hours. The L922.1 features a ZERO-RESET function that automatically jumps the second hand to zero when the crown is pulled, to simplify the time-setting process.

Numerous details of the meticulously finished movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback. It reveals the three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver, the classic screw balance, and the hand-engraved balance cock with the whiplash precision index adjuster.

The 18K white gold case measures 38.5 mm by 10.2 mm; it has recessed pushers in the case band for setting all the date functions. Winding and time setting is controlled via the crown.

The Langematik Perpetual is paired with a black crocodile strap and a white-gold prong buckle. It is now available for purchase worldwide. The retail price is $84,200. (Ref. 310.026)
