Arnold & Son, a brand that was recently purchased Manufacture La Joux-Perret SA (a well known movement maker) came out with a lot of very interesting new pieces at Baselworld as a result of the collaboration between their new parent company. Of the new timepieces from Arnold & Son, none stands out more than the new Time Pyramid, which was inspired by vintage regulators and antique British Skeleton clocks (like the one shown below).

Inside Look at Baselworld 2013 (19 photos)

Baselworld — the world’ largest watch and jewelry trade show — underwent a major renovation for 2013. The redesigned layout, which was created by renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron, not only looks more modern, it is far easier to navigate. The layout of the halls was carefully optimized to reduce crowding, while making it easier for the attendees, which include retailers, media and the exhibiting brands, to get around between the hundreds of booths that are located across six huge exhibition halls. Furthermore, even while the attendance numbers set all-time records at 122,000 visitors (up 17% over last year), it seemed far less crowded than previous years.

Hands-On with the Glashutte Original Senator Sixties in Blue

Glashutte Original launched a gorgeous new blue version of their classic Senator Sixties timepiece at Baselworld 2013 last week (available without date as shown, or with Panorama Date at 6 o’clock). The new timepiece is presented in the same sleek 39 mm x 9.4 mm polished stainless steel case as the previous versions. The same domed sapphire crystal and domed dial. What is new is the color of the dial and the strap. The new dial is in galvanized blue with a sunburst decoration, the hands are made of white gold and feature luminous paint for nighttime legibility.
