Baume & Mercier

The highlight for Baume & Mercier at SIHH was the launch of their new Clifton collection. The collection consists of 7 variation, all housed in round, polished and satin-finished double-beveled cases. The Clifton 18K Red Gold (shown above) 39 mm, Clifton Complete Calendar (shown below) 41 mm, and Clifton Small Seconds 43 mm. A variety of sun satin-finished dials are available depending on the model.

The automatic versions come with either small seconds, or a central sweeping seconds hand (shown above). There is also a manually wound moonphase model (shown below), powered by a La Joux-Perret 7318 and housed in a 42 mm case.

Baume & Mercier will be launching an all new watch collection at the upcoming SIHH show in January. The Clifton collection — inspired by a vintage 1950s timepiece — is distinguished by a double-beveled case design. Available in stainless steel or 18K red gold, with alligator leather straps. The Clifton collection will retail between $2,700 - $6,300 and is expected to be available in stores by April 2013.

For 2012, Baume & Mercier further solidified their new marketing initiatives which have been underway for the past few years. This year at SIHH a few new men's references were introduced within the core Capeland chronograph collection, including the redesigned vintage inspired 44 mm flyback chrono (Ref. 10006), the 44 mm chrono with a new blue dial variation (Ref. 10065) and the 42 mm chrono which is now available with a steel bracelet (Ref. 10062).

Baume & Mercier introduced the Capeland Flyback Chronograph collection last year at SIHH. Next month, at SIHH 2012, they will introduce a new vintage inspired Capeland.

Aesthetically, the new Capeland has been redesigned with an all new two register layout, as opposed to three registers in last year's collection; and a new vintage inspired dial, including gilt Breguet style hands.

Functionally, the Capeland is virtually the same as the 2011 model. Available in either a stainless steel or 18k red gold case that measures 44 mm in diameter and 16.5 mm thick. Inside, is a La Joux-Perret automatic bi-compax chronograph movement with flyback and date. The movement runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz), has 27 jewels and a power-reserve of 48-hours.

Originally launched in 1994, the Baume & Mercier Hampton collection has been updated for 2011. The new Hampton collection features the same key elements of the 1940s Baume & Mercier Museum piece. A curved caseband, curved sapphire crystal and a rectangle shaped case.

The collection features a wide assortment of styles. Available both in men's and women's. Powering the Hamptons are Swiss ETA calibers, in both automatic and quartz, as well as a manually wound La Joux-Perret caliber.

The collection is a perfect example of simple elegance. If you like the style of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, or the Vacheron Constantin Aronde 1954, then you may also want to take a look at the Hampton collection. Moreover, you can pick up one of these for far less than the Jaeger or Vacheron.

This was a big year for Richemont brand, Baume & Mercier, as they introduced quite a few new models, and redesigned many of their current collections. The biggest announcement for their men's watches, though, was the introduction of a totally new Capeland Flyback Chronograph.

To celebrate their new timepieces and new look, the Baume & Mercier booth was decorated to look like a beach house in the Hamptons, and they even painted one of the main walls to look like a beach, and on the opening day, immediately following the show, they threw a big Hampton's style party. Celebrities, super models and a number of other distinguished guests, including international watch retailers, press and friends of the brands were in attendance.

Baume & Mercier will be introducing the Classima Red Gold Dual Time-Zone and Power Reserve at SIHH 2011, in January. This new model, from the best selling Classima collection, features a 39 mm diameter fully polished 18K red gold case. It is powered by a self-winding Soprod 9035 movement adorned with Geneva Stripes. The black dial has a straight-line guilloché pattern and gilt-hour markers. Contrasting with the dial are red gold applied indices and roman numerals. The dial features central hours, minutes and seconds, along with a power-reserve indicator (at 6 o'clock) and dual-time zone (hour indicator at 12 o'clock). A date window is located at 3 o'clock. It comes with a black alligator leather strap, with a red gold pin buckle. Water-resistance is 30 meters.
