Carl F. Bucherer introduced the Manero Central Chronograph - with its unique configuration that displays both the chronograph seconds and minutes via central hands for better legibility - last year at Baselworld.

This year, they introduced a new version of the Manero CentralChrono with a silver dial and stainless steel bracelet. Everything else is identical. Dimensions are unchanged at 42.5 mm by 14.24 mm. Movement is the same CFB 1967 caliber with 41 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 44-hour. Functions still include hours, minutes, small seconds, central minute and seconds counter, date and 24-hour display.

Carl F. Bucherer presents the Manero CentralChrono with both minutes and seconds displayed via central hands.

Chronograph seconds are commonly displayed via a central hand, whereas chronograph minutes typically are not. In this case, both chronograph seconds and minutes are shown via central hands. This unique configuration results in better legibility when reading the chronograph time.

Carl F. Bucherer Manero ChronoPerpetual

Carl-F-Bucherer-Manero-ChronoPerpetual-1.jpg

Carl F. Bucherer has just announced a new perpetual calendar timepiece with a chronograph and moon phase function. A perpetual calendar automatically corrects for the days of the month, whereas a simple date function on most mechanical watches needs to be manually changed if the month has fewer than 31 days. The Manero ChronoPerpetual also makes an automatic correction for leap years as well. In mechanical watchmaking this is a very difficult complication to produce, hence the reference "grand complication."

Baselworld 2009 Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec DayDate

During Baselworld 2009 I had an opportunity to meet with the Ron Stoll (President) and Anthony Siragusa (VP) of Carl F. Bucherer USA. Instead of showing me all kinds of new models, they chose to focus on only one new timepiece, the Patravi EvoTec DayDate. A timepiece that features, not only the first Carl F. Bucherer manufacture movement (the CFB A1000). But also, the world's first and only peripheral rotor powered movement.

Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec FourX

TravelTec-FourX-place_fr2.jpg

The Patravi TravelTec FourX is the newest version of the Patravi collection by Carl F. Bucherer. The coolest function of this watch is the ability to show three time zones simultaneously. The third time zone can be set using a single push-button mechanism for which a patent is pending. The watch uses an exotic blend of palladium, titanium, ceramics and rubber. The case is nicely sized at 46.6 mm in diameter and 15.5 mm thick. The movement is an automatic Caliber 1901.1 with 39 jewels and a 42 hour power reserve. What really makes this watch so special and distinguishes it from other TravelTec models, is the skeleton dial. It even has a small window inlaid in the side of the watch that allows you to view the TravelTec mechanism. Overall I am very impressed with the look and function of this model, it looks even better in person.
