Zenith takes Indy for the first Brickyard Invitational

Josh Shanks

Last weekend, Zenith Watches, along with event sponsor SVRA took over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for a weekend of vintage car racing. Professional Watches was fortunate enough to get an invite to the festivities. The weekend began with a dinner and cocktail reception with Zenith. On Saturday, we headed to the track for a full day of festivities. When we arrived at the Zenith suite, we watched the first few circuit races and had lunch. Afterward, we took a tour of gasoline alley and the pits to get an idea of what cars we’d see on the circuit. I was shocked to see such a wide range of vehicles. From a vintage 1911 car driven at Indy, a vintage 1988 Oldsmobile Skoal NASCAR, a 1960s Indycar, and all the way up to modern muscle cars. The SVRA was well

Max Chilton Edition Edge Double Barrel launched at Firestone 600

Jason Pitsch

Independent Swiss watchmaker Armin Strom has partnered this year with up-and-coming IndyCar driver Max Chilton to create a timepiece that pays homage to the racer and his team (Chip Ganassi Racing). Launched at the Firestone 600, which was held a few weeks ago, in Fort Worth, Texas – the new Max Chilton Edition Edge Double Barrel was designed with input from Chilton. “I love a heavier and larger watch on my wrist that still has a sporty feel to it,” says Chilton. Chilton’s number “8” appears on the dial in the small seconds display and the blue on his turbocharged Chevrolet racecar matches the hour numerals on the dial. The limited edition piece is, of course, appealing to a fan. And watching Max race in person, would have been nice. But unfortunately the rainy conditions earlier in the day could

Photo Report: Caffeine & Carburetors May 2016

Jason Pitsch

This past Sunday, Josh and I drove out to Caffeine & Carburetors, a car meet-up that happens four times a year in Connecticut (Waveny Park). Everything from vintage cars to muscle cars to modern classics and even a few super cars were in attendance. It was a bit overcast and there was a light drizzle, but the turnout was still quite impressive with hundreds of people walking around the wide variety of cars (probably 100 or so). The show stopper had to be the seven-figure Pagani Huayra, a carbon fiber clad supercar beast. Being that cars and watches go together, we, of course, did a little watch spotting as well. The next Caffeine & Carburetors takes place September 11, at Pine and Elm St in Conneticut.

A day on the water with Bremont watches

Overview The Americas Cup sailing yacht race came to NYC earlier this month and I had the privilege of attending the race on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The New York event was a qualifying race in a series of preliminary events, collectively known as the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series. These preliminary races are part of the 2015-16 America’s Cup season. America’s Cup is running these qualifying races throughout the world. Events in Portsmouth, Sweden, Bermuda, and Oman have already occurred. Races in Chicago, Portsmouth and Toulon will occur later this year. The final race for the America’s Cup trophy will take place in the summer of 2017 in Bermuda. History (portions via americascup.com) For those of you unaware of the history of the Americas Cup, let’s take a quick look back to 1851 when a schooner sailed past

Since their founding in 1912, Hamilton Jewelers has been selling the finest jewelry and timepieces to clients from all walks of life. Their main store in Princeton, New Jersey is a local landmark, steps away from the esteemed halls of Princeton. Hamilton started their watch fairs over a decade ago in an effort to open their doors to casual and serious watch collectors. The fair at their Princeton location is an experience that you don’t want to miss. Last year, I had the pleasure of attending the watch fair at their Princeton location. Hamilton rolled out the red carpet (literally) for our group of collectors and social media influencers. We spent the day talking to brand representatives from around the world that flew in to work alongside Hamilton’s sales staff. Hamilton provided refreshments and special financing for the many people

Big Bang Sang Bleu

Jason Pitsch

On April 20th, at the Robert, located on top floor of New York City’s Museum of Art & Design – overlooking Central Park and Columbus Circle – Jean-Francois Sberro, Managing Director Hublot of America, and Swiss tattoo artist Maxime Büchi, presented a new limited edition collaboration Hublot timepiece called the Big Bang Sang Bleu. To give a little background, Maxime Buchi founded Sang Bleu magazine in 2006 – merging art, fashion, literature, sociology, and tattooing. Eventually, that led to the formation of Sang Bleu London Tattoo Studio in 2014, which consists of a dozen A-list tattooists. Notably, Buchi’s most famous clients include Kanye West and Adam Lambert.
