This is the new Harry Winston Project Z6 Black Edition Alarm. I had a chance to preview and photograph last week during Baselworld. Harry Winston is not planning to officially unveil this timepiece until later this summer, however, I have been given permission to publish it.

Harry Winston Press Release

"Histoire de Tourbillon 2 embodies the visionary spirit and the determination of Harry Winston to explore new dimensions in a daring and distinctive manner. The bi-axial flying tourbillon combines two concentric carriages to create a striking visual effect. Housed within an outer carriage completing one full turn in 120 seconds, the internal carriage containing the balance, balance-spring and escapement revolves in just 40 seconds. While this multidimensional regulating-organ complication plays the starring role, the brand's signature excentered look is expressed in a resolutely atypical manner. Eight sapphire crystals punctuate the case, revealing the tourbillon coupled with running seconds at 9 o'clock, the hours with day/night indication at 2 o'clock, and the minutes at 6 o'clock. This is an Haute Horlogerie high-tech instrument that does not merely measure time, but actually lives it with vibrant energy and confidence. 20-piece limited edition."

Project Z4 by HARRY WINSTON

harry winston_zalium_.jpg

The Project Z4 is the fourth model in the Harry Winston Project Zalium series. The Z4 is limited to 300 pieces worldwide and is made of the exotic metal alloy Zalium. Ronald Winston, son of Harry Winston, created Zalium from zirconium alloy and allium lily. The metal is stronger than titanium and almost as light. As you can see Zalium has a nice lustre with a grey hue to it. They used a combination of carbon black, white and anthracite grey on the dial to make it very easy to read both time zones. By pressing the repeater trigger on the upper left side of the case, you can click between the two time zones. There is also a daytime or nighttime graphic for each timezone. Overall I am quite impressed with the dressed down style of this watch as well as the functionality of dual time zones. This is the type of watch that works just as well with jeans as it does a suit, so it is perfect for a traveler who only wants to carry one watch.

Harry Winston produced and donated a unique watch - based on their Ocean Diver timepiece, with details inspired by Andre Agassi's storied tennis career - which was subsequently featured in the live auction in front of an audience of 8,000 guests. The watch package went for $110,000 USD at auction.
