Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept

Jason Pitsch

The TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept is one of the lightest mechanical timepieces in the world – at a mere weight of 14.88 grams. Creating a timepiece this light required the use of a special composite material called “Innovative Technical Revolutionary Resin” (or ITR) combined with Kevlar/carbon to create the case middle, bezel, back, and crown. The material is extremely difficult to manufacture, although the advantages of using this high-tech resin results in a case that it is eight times lighter than steel and four times lighter than titanium, according to Montblanc. The case measures 40 mm x 9.7 mm. Notably, the horns of the watch are made of titanium, which have been skeletonized for further weight reduction, as well as satin-finished and treated with a black DLC coating that provides a contrast to the smooth matte finish on the bezel.

The automatic double barrel movement beats at 3Hz (21,600 vph), with 44 jewels, and a 50-hour power reserve. The mainplate and bridges are rhodium plated – with circular graining on the mainplate and Geneva stripes on the bridges. SIHH Preview: Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Twincounter Date

With SIHH 2016 just around the corner (starts January 18th), many of the participating watch companies have been releasing previews, including Montblanc – who just released details on the Heritage Chronométrie Twincounter Date. It has an entry-level price with aesthetics you might see on a much higher-end timepiece. This is clearly part of Montblanc’s strategy going forward, as in recent years much of their collection was overlapping with higher-end siblings within the Richemont group. Now, there is much more of a price distinction. Read on to see the details and price. The new Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Collection Twincounter Date introduces a new date complication (module) that has been completely developed and manufactured in-house by Montblanc’s master watchmakers. A conservatively sized stainless steel case measuring 40 mm by 9.85 mm should appeal to purists who typically prefer smaller watches. The case

Montblanc 1858 Small Second Limited Edition in steel

Today, Montblanc debuted a new watch collection inspired by 1930s pilot watches. The 1858 Small Second Limited Edition, which comes in a 44 mm diameter by 10.95 mm thick stainless steel case, is the entry-level timepiece in the new collection. A large diameter (37.2 mm) hand-wound movement reminiscent of pocket watches from the same time period, powers the watch and is visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement beats at 3Hz (21,600 vph), has 17 jewels, and a power reserve of 46-hours. The dial is black with large printed Arabic hour markers, along with large rhodium-plated poire squelette hour and minute hands – all coated with an aged luminescent material. A small seconds display is located at 6 o’clock, where notably, the Arabic numeral has been omitted to fit subdial. The historical Montblanc emblem is printed in white at 12

Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition

Today at the SIAR 2015 watch trade show in Mexico Montblanc debuted an all-new collection inspired by pilot watch designs from the 1930s. The highlight of the new collection is the Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Limited Edition which is powered by a movement inspired by Minerva caliber 17.29, from 1929. A polished red gold pilot style case measuring 44 mm in diameter and 13.15 mm houses the pocket watch sized movement. Like the historic model, this modern pilot watch features a bevelled winding crown with an integrated single push-piece that operates the chronograph start/stop/reset functions. The hand-wound monopusher chronograph has a column-wheel and horizontal clutch, and most notably it features the iconic engraved “V” chronograph bridge, which has been protected by Minerva since 1912. Caliber MB M16.29 beats at 2.5Hz (18,000 vph), has 252 total components, 22 jewels and a

Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Dual Time

The Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Dual Time bears a strong resemblance to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Home Time. Everything from the dial layout to the case dimensions to the way the watch functions. Montblanc states that they developed their own module for the watch but with so many similarities, it is almost a given that Jaeger-Lecoultre played a hand in its development. The fully polished steel case measures 41 mm by 9.97 mm. The dial is silvery white with a sunburst pattern, facetted indexes, Arabic numeral “12” as rhodium-plated appliqués, rhodium-plated sword-shaped hour-hand and minute-hand, blued steel hour-hand for the second time zone, the 24-hour and the day-night indicators, rhodium-plated small seconds, and date window at 3 o’clock. The crown is steel and features the Montblanc emblem in raised relief. The local time is displayed via the silver hour hand. The home
