Linde Werdelin 3-Timer Racing Series for Singapore

3-Timer Racing Series yellow_1.jpg

Linde Werdelin, together with partner E'collezione in Singapore will offer a special edition 3-Timer.  Based on the Linde Werdelin 3-Timer GMT timepiece, the new 3-Timers were created to coincide with the Grand Prix in Signapore. Two variations are available, yellow or red, with 9 pieces available in each color. Like previous 3-Timers, this cersion features an intricate galvanic satinised dial with a great looking pattern. But what really sets it apart from other models, is the cool red or yellow accents on the bezel, case and strap.

The Linde Werdelin 3-Timer GMT has two hour hands and a 24-hour bezel, all of which can display a timezone, for a total of three time zones. There is also a date function at 4 o'clock.

The stainless steel case is 46 mm x 49 mm. Inside is an ETA 2893 A2 mechanical automatic movement with a 42 hour power reserve. The caseback is solid steel, with the word "Racing" engraved.  The crystal is 2.2mm thick and features anti-reflective treatment. The hands and markers feature Superluminova for nighttime viewing.  The strap is black perforated calfskin with red or yellow details & stitching and a steel ardillon buckle.

Like all Linde Werdelin watches, the 3-Timer Racing can carry both The Rock - extreme ski instrument - and The Reef - dive instrument - maximizing the user's sporting moments.

When I saw the original 3-Timer, I really liked the pattern on the dial, and the overall style of the watch. For this model, though, they have taken the good elements of 3-Timer and given it a totally new look.  It is definitely more bold, but without being overly flashy.  The stainless steel case looks great with the (black and bright yellow) or (black and bright red) contrasting color schemes.

Last Friday (August 13, 2010) Parmigiani Fleurier launched the car inspired Bugatti Super Sport timepiece. A super watch made in conjunction with the world's fastest production car, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. The car is an amazing feat in engineering as is this new Bugatti timepiece from Parmigiani. I really liked the original watch Parmigiani created for Bugatti, however, this version has been fully redesigned. The new watch is arguably better looking, and maintains an unmistakable look, much like a Bugatti super car. The design is more restrained, the case is sleeker and it is much more wearable. The excellent design perfectly blends subtle Bugatti Veyron elements, without being quite as loud as the previous model, and that is definitely a good thing.

In 2004, Parmigiani revolutionised the world of watchmaking by placing the entire movement of its Bugatti Type 370 watch on a transverse axis, just like a car engine block. A pillar assembly connected the calibre's five plates and the train wheels cut in the shape of a car wheel.

In 2010, Parmigiani flips all the mechanical components of the new calibre Bugatti PF 372 onto a vertical axis, retaining the lateral time display so appreciated car drivers.

In a world premiere, Parmigiani has successfully developed a 90° time setting system - the dial is positioned perpendicular to the display axis (hours/minutes) - by integrating a system of double pinions with bevel gearing. Like the complete movement, this unique and complex mechanical system, which allows the time to be displayed on the side, has been entirely designed and created in the workshops of the Fleurier manufacture (VMF).

Another key feature of the new Bugatti: its dynamometric crown. Perfectly integrated just above the profile, this is one of the essential technical components in terms of the harmony of the model's aerodynamic lines. To retract the winding stem from its housing and make it accessible for setting, a slight pressure is sufficient.

Edox WRC Chronorally

Edox-WRC-Chronograph.jpg

Edox recently announced the WRC Chronorally timepiece for use in professional rally racing. In conjunction with the World Rally Chamionship, Edox has created an entire collection dedicated to the world's best rally drivers and their co-drivers.

The new WRC Chronograph has many functions. In addition to the standard displays, it offers a host of new possibilities including stage timing with an accumulated stage time, recount/replay mode, countdown mode and chronograph.

All these functions are operated by means of the pushpieces and the crown, which, with its outsize design, is easily gripped by the gloved hands of a rally driver. The WRC Chronograph also boasts other rally-themed details like a raised caseback which represents a WRC wheel rim and a rubber wristband featuring a car tyre tread pattern.

Cabestan Scuderia Ferrari One

Cabestan-Ferrari-watches-sketch.jpg

After the recent dissolution of the Panerai and Ferrari partnership, Ferrari wasted no time in finding a new watch brand to partner with. The problem with the Ferrari/Panerai relationship, was that the guys that drive Ferraris, don't wear Panerais, and vice versa. The guys that own Ferraris generally prefer more exclusive timepieces than those made by manufactures such as Panerai. Ferrari has chosen to work with high-end boutique watch brand Cabestan. Cabestan and Ferrari just released this concept sketch of their first timepiece, the Scuderia Ferrari One. These timepieces will be available in very limited quantities, exclusively to Ferrari owners.
