Ralph Lauren Watch Co. recently introduced a highly affordable new model within their Sporting collection — the Ralph Lauren Sporting RL67 Chronometer. Priced at $3,250, it is a good price relative to their other collections, however, it is important to note that unlike previously introduced RL timepieces (which all utilize manufacture movements sourced from the Richemont Group - IWC, Piaget and Jaeger-LeCoultre specifically) this is the first RL model to use a non-manfacture movement. Ralph Lauren has confirmed that the movement is sourced from Sellita. The exact movement was not specified, however, we do know that it runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz), has a 42-hour power reserve and features vertical Côtes de Genève and perlage finishing.

Pre-SIHH: Ralph Lauren Sporting World Time

Ralph-Lauren-Sporting-World-Time.jpg

As a continuation to the RL Sporting World Time collection — which is currently only available in 18K white and rose gold — Ralph Lauren will unveil a new stainless steel version at SIHH 2013 in January.

The Sporting Word Time comes in a brushed steel case that measures 45 mm in diameter by 11.5 mm thick. It has the collection’s signature fixed bezel with 6 bezel screws and screw-in lugs. Like all of the Sporting collection, except for the Automotive model, the hours are marked by transferred Roman numerals. White transferred railroad-style minutes track. The dial is blue which matches the strap. The hours and minutes are indicated by silvery Breguet-style hands; seconds are displayed by the red baton central seconds hand. In the upper left section of the dial is the power reserve indicator, and in the upper right is date subdial — both features silvery sword-shaped hands.

Ralph Lauren unveiled three very interesting "Sporting" timepieces at SIHH 2011 this past January. The Sporting Watch (with unique Burled wood dial), the Sporting Chronograph Black Ceramic and the Sporting Chronograph Guilloche steel (shown above). The guilloché-work on the chronograph is not something you see much in this price range, making it maybe the most compelling of the three new "sporting models.

Ralph Lauren and the Richemont Group began collaborating in 2007, and have offered timepieces designed by Ralph Lauren and manufactured by the Richemont Group since 2008. For 2011, though, they have produced some of their most attractive timepieces yet. Three RL pieces in particular stood out for Ralph Lauren at SIHH 2011. The new vintage Bugatti inspired Ralph Lauren Sporting Watch and the two new Sporting Chronographs. The Sporting Chronographs are available in black ceramic (shown above), and a steel guilloche model (which will cover soon).
