In 2004, TAG Heuer introduced the Monaco V4, as a concept watch. Five years later, the concept is finally becoming a reality. The first one will go sale at the Only Watch Auction 2009, on September 24th. The auction will be conducted by Patrizzi & Co. during the Monaco Yacht Show. All proceeds of the sale go to support research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
This is TAG Heuer's new LS Monaco Chronograph Calibre 12. The "LS" refers to linear chronograph seconds, which are displayed at 3 o'clock. A display at 9 o'clock shows the chronograph minutes. And a display at 6 o'clock shows the hours.
Introduced at Baselworld 2009, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Small Seconds is the newest addition to the TAG Heuer F1 collection. The 44mm stainless steel case is brushed and features a black PVD bezel. The bracelet comes in stainless steel or rubber, with a stainless steel clasp. The dial is white, with contrasting black numerals and indexes. A black dial version with white contrasting elements is also available (pictured below). A small seconds subdial and date aperature at 6 o'clock display the seconds and the date. The movement is quartz. Water-resistance is 200 meters.
Available Fall 2009. Retail $850.
(Monaco 24 Chronograph Concept from Baselworld 2009 by Jason Pitsch)
TAG Heuer has unveiled a new high-tech prototype watch to celebrate the 24 Hours of Le Mans race - the TAG Heuer MONACO 24 Concept Chronograph. The TAG Heuer MONACO 24 Concept Chronograph is inspired by the Le Mans endurance racecars and comes with a Calibre 36 movement that "floats" inside an oversized (40.5mm) black PVD-coated case, suspended within a steel-tube housing and visible through the dial face and the sapphire crystal caseback. The components of the TAG Heuer MONACO 24 Concept Chronograph are further protected by a new composite filter material that's used in auto racing.
Custom built in industrial-grade tungsten, the three arrows of the oscillating weight echoes a GT car's chrome mags. The TAG Heuer MONACO 24 Concept Chronograph features the iconic blue and orange livery of Gulf Oil. The TAG Heuer MONACO 24 Concept Chronograph is water resistant to 100 meters and features an anti-reflective double-sided treatment on the curved sapphire scratch-resistant crystal glass.
(This slideshow includes four new TAG Heuer watches that were introduced at Baselworld 2009. The Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS ($10,000), Monaco Limited Edition ($10,000), Formula One ($850) and the Monaco Concept (TBD).)
I would like to thank Rachel Branch, PR Director at TAG Heuer, for her assistance photographing these timepieces.
