Piaget's big announcement this year at SIHH 2012, was the all new Gouverneur line within the Piaget Black Tie dress watch collection, which also includes: the Emperador, Emperador Coussin, Protocole and Rectangle à à l'Ancienne. Available in three models: automatic calendar, chronograph and tourbillon, the Gouverneur is distinguished by its 43 mm oval shaped case. Each version comes in either an 18K pink gold case, or an 18K white gold case with diamond bezel.
Piaget, a brand well known for their jewelry making expertise, also has considerable know-how in producing in-house calibers and cases, and the Gouverneur timepieces combine the latter two disciplines for the pink gold versions, and all three disciplines for the diamond models. Furthermore, all three calibers utilize one of the brand's primary specialities - ultra-thin mechanical movements. The automatic calendar is equipped with the manufacture 800P (4 mm thick), the self-winding flyback chronograph uses the manufacture 882P (5.6 mm thick) and the tourbillon uses a the 642P hand wound mechanical movement (4 mm).
The 18K pink gold models come with brown alligator straps and 18K pink gold pin buckles. The 18K white gold models come with black alligator straps and 18K white gold pin buckles. All Gouverneur timepieces are 30 meters water-resistant.
