At Baselworld, alongside a beautiful vintage 1960s Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Prototipo, Eberhard & Co launched a new chronograph inspired by a watch from the same era.

The Eberhard & Co. Tribute to Contograf 1960s was inspired by a type of chronograph common in the 1960s called a “Contograf” that helps count 3-minute increments. Phones from that period charged in increments of 3-minutes, hence the 3-minute markings on the 30-minute chronograph counter (at 3 o’clock).

The case of the Contograf is in stainless steel and measures 42 mm by 14.70 mm. A domed sapphire crystal protected the dial and features and anti-reflective treatment. The solid caseback is in steel and is engraved with “TRIBUTE TO CONTOGRAF – 1960s.” The crown is steel and has been embossed with the letter ‘E.” The unidirectional rotating bezel is steel with a black ceramic insert that has been engraved and palladium treated. Water-resistance is 50 meters.

Inside is caliber 8147 which is an ETA 7750. The configuration has been modified to run only two counters (versus three): small seconds at 9 o’clock and 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock.

The Contograf is available in three dial variations silvery-white (shown), black, black with white counters. There are 9 applied, faceted indexes, as well as a printed minute track and tachometer scale. The hour and minute hands are dauphine shaped and have luminescent inserts. The red central hand indicates chronograph seconds. Leaf-shaped hands for the counters.

Available on a black leather strap with “red arrow” details or a steel bracelet. Retail is $5,750 on leather strap and $6,350 on bracelet. (Ref. 31069)
