For the third year in a row at Baselworld, TAG Heuer introduced a new limited edition Carrera timepiece to celebrate the most famous and historic F1 race — the Monaco Grand Prix. The Carrera Monaco Grand Prix Chronograph 1887 is presented in a 43 mm diameter sandblasted grade 2 (pure) titanium case with black titanium carbide coating, with a black ceramic bezel.

The sporty dial is black with two vertical racing stripes and a red line on the right side. The hour and minute hands are in polished black gold with luminescent markers. The hours are marked by black gold Arabic numerals that have been hand applied to the dial. The applied TAG Heuer logo is also in polished black gold. At 9 o’clock is a black counter with a running second hand in polished black gold.

At 12 and 6 o’clock are 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters, with a circular guilloché finish. The dial reads “CARRERA – CAL. 1887.” The ceramic bezel reads “MONACO GRAND PRIX” in red, along with a white tachymeter scale. The start/stop push-piece at 2 o’clock has a red accent stripe that contrasts the mostly black color scheme. The chronograph second hand is also in red.

The dial is protected by a curved sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment. The caseback is engraved with the limited numbered edition XXXX/2500, as well as a sapphire window that offers a view into the in-house made caliber 1887 movement which runs at 4Hz, has 39 jewels and a 50-hour maximum power reserve.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Monaco Grand Prix 1887 Limited Edition comes on either a black rubber strap with embossed tire design or a black leather alligator strap with red contrast stitching. The folding clasp is in grade 2 titanium with a black carbide coating and push buttons. Water-resistance is 100 meters. Retail price is $6,600. (Ref. CAR2A83.FT6033)
