Hamilton released a very cool limited edition pilots’ watch, called the Khaki Takeoff Auto Chrono, earlier this year at Baselword. It comes in an oversized 46.3 mm diameter matt black PVD treated stainless steel case, with a bullhead design (meaning the crown and chronograph pushers are on the top of the case), and best of all, it is designed to detach from its wristwatch configuration so it can be mounted in the included presentation box.

The dial features easy to read printed Superluminova hours markers, plus a 60 minute/second scale on the outer chapter ring.

There is a 30-minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. Big sword hour and minute hands, with Superluminova treatment, make it is easy to read the time in all lighting conditions. The subdials feature large arrow style hands. The chronograph second hand has a yellow tip that matches the yellow paint on the countdown bezel that marks 0-15, and the yellow accent threading on the leather strap.

A fluted bezel, makes it easy to adjust the scale on the flange, in either direction, even with gloves on. To run a countdown, all you have to do is turn the bezel to align the minute hand with the flange scale.

The Hamilton Khaki Takeoff Auto Chrono Limited Edition is paired with a black leather strap with a rubber backing and a skeletonized pin buckle in black PVD. It is powered by caliber H-31, which has 25 jewels, beats at 4Hz and has a 60-hour power reserve. It is based on an ETA/Valjoux 7753. The dial is protected by an anti-reflecitve sapphire crystal and it is 50 meters water-resistant. The price is $3,295 and each piece is numbered from (1-1999).
