PHOTO REPORT: Alpina Heritage Exhibition at Tourneau
November 20, 2014
Alpina recently had an exhibition at the Tourneau Time Machine in Midtown Manhattan highlighting the brand’s heritage, which dates back to 1883. On display were a variety of the brands important historic wristwatches, pocket watches and movements. Alpina CEO, Guido Benedini, joyfully explained that he had recently acquired a few of the vintage pieces for the Alpina museum collection. He also hinted at very cool new timepiece, inspired by history of the brand, that will be unveiled at Baselworld 2015 (that is all I can reveal right now).
Alpina was registered as trademark in 1901 and by 1920 they were sold in over 2,000 outlets worldwide. That is a significant number, even relative to today. Many of the modern watches they make today are inspired by the past.
