The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chrono, which wrote about last year, was first created in 2004 in honor of the famous Monaco Historic Grand Prix racing event which Chopard has sponsored as the official timekeeper since 2002.

According to Chopard, like the original, the new US limited edition model is inspired by “the power of a V12 car engine,” and “embodies Chopard’s passion for racing as well as its demanding horological standards.”

The United States limited edition Monaco Historique Chronos are available in the same case as currently offered (44.5 mm x 14.10 mm), and powered by the same COSC certified automatic chronograph movement that runs at 4Hz (28,800 vph), has 25 jewels, and a 46-hour power reserve. The crown is locking and water-resistance is 100 meters.

There are 100 numbered pieces crafted in titanium/stainless steel and 25 in 18K rose gold. Both versions come with dark blue dials – which feature a circular stamped guilloche motif – along with black, white, and red accent colors.

When combined with the included blue NATO strap, with white racing stripes, the aesthetic is very sporty. When paired with the included blue alligator strap, which features red contrast stitching, the look is more elegant and dressy. Essentially, Chopard has taken an existing model and made a special colorway, and personally, although no innovations have been made, the look is quite attractive, particularly with the Nato strap.

Each limited edition is presented in an exclusive gift box. The stainless steel models are available now at authorized Chopard retailers, exclusively in the United States. The 18k gold versions of each collection can be found exclusively at US Chopard boutiques. The retail price is $6,990 in stainless steel.
