The Notorious Watches of Conor McGregor
January 6, 2017
Conor McGregor is notorious for his trash talk, for his ability to fight and win in the UFC in multiple weight classes, and for his extravagant lifestyle including an affinity for custom made suits, luxury cars, and high-end mechanical watches.
He is currently the UFC lightweight (155lb) champion, after a win by TKO against defending champion Eddie Alvarez on November 12, 2016. Upon winning that fight McGregor became the first fighter in UFC’s history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously, as he was still holding the featherweight (145lb) title at the time. Which, by the way, he earned December 12, 2015, when he KO’d José Aldo in a mere thirteen seconds and earned him the accolade of the fastest victory in UFC title fight history.
However, controversially, the UFC subsequently stripped him of the featherweight belt due to inactivity.
Despite the fact that he will fight virtually anyone, including going up to welterweight (170lb) to fight the much bigger Nate Diaz, twice, he has only lost in the UFC once.
And thanks to his fighting style, his over-the-top trash talking, and possibly even his ostentatious fashion style, he is also known for drawing the biggest audiences to his fights.
In doing so, he has also become a de facto brand ambassador for numerous watch brands, including Patek Philippe, Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Hublot, and Richard Mille.
McGregor is a great fighter, and clearly loves the luxury lifestyle, and while he was gifted a custom “Notorious” emblazoned Rolls Royce before his last title fight, it appears based on previous statements, that his watches are purchased with his own money – which is so much better than being a contrived (paid) ambassador.
