This is Longines’ latest Flagship Heritage — a classic dress watch that takes cues from historic pieces with a modern case size.

The elegant timepiece comes in a stainless steel case that measures 38.5 mm whereas historic models were typically in the 35 mm diameter range. Longines launched a 38.5 mm model with the same name in 2017. This 2020 model has a number of similarities such as the gold plated Dauphine hour and minute hands (rose gold in this iteration), applied markers, and case size — although the new model features numerous variations that make it unique.

Instead of a mixture of Arabic numeral and indices, the new Flagship Heritage timepiece has all indices, which is arguably cleaner and more befitting of a dressy timepiece. The movement is a 4Hz, 27-jewel, automatic ETA 2895-2 which (versus 2982) which reflects that added date function, which sits at 6 o’clock.

The dial is a glossy black as opposed to cream, which leans more towards a formal aesthetic, like the indices. The word “Flagship” is written in the same font but now it’s gilded and underneath the handset as opposed to above it. This is perhaps busy because the location overlaps the ringless small seconds indication, which integrates a crosshair marking.

Water-resistance stays at 30 meters and the power reserve remains 42-hours. This is not a limited edition whereas the 2017 Flagship Heritage model was. A box-type sapphire protects the dial and on the solid caseback is a decorative enameled yellow gold medallion. The watch is completed with a black leather strap and steel buckle. (Ref.
