The 2020 Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept is a record-breakingly thin production-ready timepiece based on a non-production timepiece with the same name that was announced in 2018.

The Altiplano Ultimate Concept idea originally debuted in 2018 and comes from a long line of thin Altiplano timepieces, many of which we’ve previously covered.

At 41 mm x 2 mm, this is the thinnest mechanical watch available on the market. For the initial production, the case is made of a lightweight cobalt alloy with a 0.2 mm thick sapphire crystal.

The 900P is Piaget’s famously thin caliber and for the world’s thinnest mechanical watch the caliber 900P-UC, it’s built-in to the case (the case essentially acts as the mainplate). This means all the components of the watch movement and dial are on the front of the watch.

This time only watch features baton hour and minute hands in an off-center dial at the top of the watch. The movement beats at 4Hz, has 13 jewels, and features a 40-hour power reserve. Winding is manual and is done using an integrated flush-mounted rectangular crown on the right case flank.
