the process of removing the 90-degree right angle of a metal component such as a bridge or mainplate and making a 45-degree angle (or 60-degree) on the edge of the component. This can be done automatically by a machine, or manually by hand, or a mixture of both. Typically the edge is then polished to a mirror finish. This technique is decorative as well as functionally eliminates sharp corners that would otherwise be damaged while the watch is working. (Hand-produced anglage requires a significant amount of time and skill and generally signifies a high-end movement.)
