As a follow up to the existing Group B Series 2 line — Autodromo announced a new variation today.

The Group B Series 2 Safari features the same titanium and stainless steel case as before. It has an integrated bracelet that measures 39.5 mm x 9.9 mm and weighs a scant 52 grams, with a 50 mm lug-to-lug length and a 23 mm wide stainless steel bracelet that’s tapered to 18mm at the closure.

As with the previous versions of Group B Series 2 — the hours, minutes, and central seconds are powered by an outsourced Japanese made Miyota 9015 3-hand automatic movement.

What’s new is the dark green finish created with bead blasting and plating on the case and bracelet, the dark green dial with a bright orange “Safari” logo, and the so-called “natural lume” on the indices and hands.

The Group B Series 2 Safari has a sapphire crystal on the front, a caseback secured by 6 screws, and a water-resistance rating of 50 meters. Each watch comes in a handcrafted aluminum box with a numbered plaque. The special green packaging features a drawing of the 1986 Paris-Dakar winning Porsche 959 rally car.

According to Autodromo, “The overall aesthetics of the Group B Series 2 speaks to the ‘high-tech’ design language of the early 1980s, with a high contrast dial inspired by the racing tachometer of the Lancia 037 Rally car.”

The Autodromo Group B Series 2 Safari is available for sale starting today. Retail is $975.

Editor’s note: the bracelet can be removed and a conventional two-piece strap can be fitted with a spring bar.
