Frederique Constant will be introducing their new Vintage Racing Collection at Baselworld 2011 in a few weeks, so they have released a few preview images. The new collection features the FC-396 self-winding mechanical chronograph movement, which is visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and has a power reserve of 42 hours. The case is 43 mm in diameter and fully hand polished. Functions include hours, minutes and seconds and chronograph. A date display/function was omitted, making for a very clean and uncluttered dial.

The watch comes in three dial variations: 1- silver dial with polished and hand applied stainless steel indexes and hand polished hands, 2- silver dial with polished and hand applied rose gold plated indexes and hand polished hands, 3- silver dial with black chronograph counters and outer ring with polished and hand applied stainless steel indexes. All versions come with white luminous painted hands.

Each version is limited to 1,888 pieces and is individually numbered. Water-resistance is 10 ATM. Straps are black or brown crococalf, with folding clasp and water-resistant inner lining.

The vintage look, visible chronograph movement and relatively low price should make for a very popular collection among consumers looking for an affordable Swiss quality mechanical chronograph. Retail price is $2,750.
