This month, four-year-old watch brand Czapek & Cie opened up a Genevan boutique. To commemorate the opening they’ve created a special 18 piece limited edition with a stunning midnight blue aventurine (glass) dial called the Quai des Bergues “Midnight in Geneva.”

The use of the name Quai des Bergues is noteworthy because the original founder, Francois Czapek, setup a boutique on the same road in Geneva. At the time, there were also boutiques in Place Vendôme in Paris and the Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw.

The new boutique is located on the Rue de la Corraterie 18.

Interestingly, according to Czapek & Cie, “The new premises are an important milestone for Czapek & Cie. Since the brand aims to produce watches in accordance with the exacting standards of the prestigious Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Hallmark) in the long term, the availability of a workshop in Geneva is essential to meet the geographical requirements of the Poinçon. There is already room for expansion at the new location, with the first floor of the new building due to become available in 2020.”

A 42.5 mm diameter stainless steel case houses a proprietary hand wound 3Hz caliber that has a 168-hour (7-days) power reserve that is stored in 2 barrels. The movement is just 4.75 mm thick and is finished with double open ratchets, sandblasted bridges, blue screws, bevelling, and anglage.

The bombé-shaped (curved) midnight blue aventurine glass dial, with “Fleurs de Lys” White Gold hands, has the hours marked by gilted (white gold) printed Roman numerals with a minutes track on the outer ring. Two welded subdials sit on the bottom half of the dial and represent small seconds on the left and there is a 7-day power reserve indicator on the right, with the company’s signature double-sided hand that displays both the day or week and remaining power reserve simultaneously on each end of the hand.

A curved sapphire crystal protects the dial and a sapphire crystal caseback offers a view of the movement. The caseback has special engravings “Limited Edition” at 2 o’clock, “1 out of 18” at 4.30 and “Corraterie 18, Genève” at 6 o’clock. Water resistance is 50 meters.

Retail is $18,000. Learn more at Czapek.
