Le-Sentier-based manufacture, Jaeger-LeCoultre recently announced a gorgeous new version of their Dazzling Rendez-Vous Moon watch for women, modeled here, fittingly, on the wrist of American actress, model, and singer-songwriter Amanda Seyfried.
Presented in a 36 mm diameter pink gold case, with a luscious white mother-of-pearl dial, and a fully diamond-set bezel and bracelet comprising 478 total diamonds (24.7 carats), this mechanically powered Rendez-Vous wristwatch should be just as intriguing to a horologer as a jeweler.
The word dazzling definitely comes to mind when you look at the bezel with 108 diamonds, forming two concentric rings around the watch case. Thanks to the claw setting of the outer ring of 36 stones, the presence of each stone allow light to pass through the diamonds from every angle while minimizing the visible metal. The fine gold claws hold the diamonds high, giving an impression that they’re almost floating around the watch case. To complete the case, diamonds are also set into the lugs and the crown. Setting the diamonds uses a classical jewelry technique – used for high jewelry watch Model 101 from the 1920s – that requires great precision.
That’s just the bezel, there are also another 310 diamonds (22.27 carats) in the fully-set bracelet. Each diamond is bezel-set, linking them seamlessly together to wrap around the wrist in a way that’s far more elegant than you typical pave-set bracelet.
On the dial, each applied polished pink gold Arabic hour marker has its own mother-of-pearl tile with a coordinating diamond secured in a circle pink gold setting on the outer ring. The inner ring is pink gold with an additional 47 diamonds. Sword-shaped polished pink gold hands indicate hours and minutes.
Visible through a circular display at 6 o’clock, the watch features a beautiful moon phase display with a mother-of-pearl moon floating against a starry aventurine night sky, which reveals the moon phases from behind a cloud motif carved from mother-of-pearl and accented with pink gold.
Driving hours, minutes, and the moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock, is in-house Jaeger-LeCoultre 4Hz automatic (caliber 925A/1) which features 29 jewels and has 38-hours of power reserve. The movement is visible through an open caseback which reveals traditional Swiss decorations such as blued screws, circular graining, Côtes de Genève, and a pink gold signature winding rotor with Côtes de Genève decoration.
The Dazzling Rendez-Vous Moon (Ref. Q3522370) is shown on Amanda Seyfried’s wrist in both photos with a leather strap which can be swapped out for the much heavier gold and diamond-set bracelet depending on the occasion. Water-resistance is 50 meters. Retail is approximately $255,000 (special order only).
