Casio’s Edifice latest timepiece offers a surprising amount of features for the money.

The new Edifice EFR571DB-1A1 comes with a 44 mm diameter stainless steel case, a matching stainless bracelet, and offers a Japanese made quartz movement that features the time, a second time zone, and a chronograph — for under $150.

On the dial, the color scheme is black, gray, and red with Sword-shaped hour and minute hands, and a needle-shaped sweeping central seconds hand. At 6 o’clock is a large display dedicated to chronograph seconds, accented by a red-to-black ring. Minutes are indicated at 9 o’clock from 0-15. The hour and minute hands are luminous and there are small luminous rectangles on the flange, adjacent to the applied hour indices. At 12 o’clock is a 24-hour second time zone subdial. The date is shown through an aperture at 3 o’clock.

According to Edifice, “The new EFR571DB-1A1 boasts key design elements from its predecessors, specifically the EQB-500 and the ECB-900, while still maintaining its own unique, bold style.”

A fixed, black ion-plated bezel, nail-head chronograph pushers, and a crown protected by crown steel guards completes the look.

Additional features include water resistance up to 100 meters, low-battery alert, and a three-year battery life. The EFR571DB-1A1 will be available for a retail price of $140 this August at select retailers nationwide, as well as Casio.com.
