At Baselworld, Edifice introduced a new flagship timepiece. Featuring Casio’s solar-powered Tough Movement for automatic hand position correction and automatic time calibration using standard radio waves from six (atomic) transmitters around the world – the new EQW-A1110 (steel – pictured above) and EQW-1110BD-1 (black IP) models are incredibly accurate.

Equipped with an electronic crown switch and Casio’s new “Smart Access” system, the new models are easier than ever to use. This is possible due to separate motors which drive hour, minute and second hands. The Smart Access system allows the wearer to smoothly navigate through a range of functions, such as: 1/20th of a second stopwatch, alarm and World Time switching.

“The stopwatch function allows up to 10 lap times to be stored in the memory. Using the crown, the wearer can display each lap time as well as the fastest lap time. In addition to switching between World Time zones with the crown, the watch can also automatically switch between standard time and daylight saving time, eliminating the trouble of manual resetting. With a function that instantly displays Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and other innovative features, the EQW-A1110/EQW-1110BD-1 provides outstanding convenience.”

The new timepieces dial is dominated by the square subdials at 12 and 6 o’clock (which respectively display 24 hour time and the watches functions). A vertical gauge at 9 o’clock displays the battery level and radio wave signal status. The hour indexes slope upwards towards the dial ring, creating a 3D feel. White luminous paint has been applied to the hands and indexes for excellent low-light visibility.
