Longines debuted this Heritage 1942 Chronograph at Baselworld in 2012.
Looking at this photo and thinking back to the launch of this watch, I realized the dial and case look a lot like a Patek Philippe 5070. Especially the dial.
The fit and finish are of course nowhere near Patek levels when you consider that it’s a Longines, with an original retail of $2,850. And that the movement is an ETA column-wheel equipped whereas with the Patek the movement is on another level and costs many magnitudes more than the Longines.
Still, at the end of the day, the Heritage 1942 Chronograph’s stainless steel case is well proportioned at 40 mm x 12.5 mm, and while it does not have the pill pushers of the Patek, it has similar good looks.
