This Fall, Casio released a new Full Metal 5000 timepiece, in the shape of the original DW-5000C, with a lightweight titanium case.

The titanium case measures 43.2 mm x 13 mm (49.3 mm lug-to-lug) and features a highly scratch-resistant matte black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating. On the lugs and bracelet, Casio laser-bored holes to further reduce the weight of the already lightweight titanium material. The result is a total weight of just 104 grams.

In addition to the high-tech laser-bored holes there are wide cut-outs on both lug ends that reveal red resin beneath, which adds a visual flair while also showing off the technical aspect of what is used to (cushion) reduce shocks for this particular G-Shock. Uniquely, there are alphanumeric markings etched in the bracelet, bezel, and case that give the watch a robotic sci-fi aesthetic.

Being a high-end full metal G-Shock, the watch is equipped with premium functionality, namely a Bluetooth calibrated solar-powered quartz movement, with atomic multi-band radio-controlled backup time calibration should your phone not be able to get a signal. Beyond the hours, minutes, and seconds display there’s a plethora of features including a full LED light, 39 time zones, daylight saving on/off, home city/world time city swapping, auto summer time DST, 1/100th of a second stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, full auto-calendar, date/month display swapping, 12/24 hour format, and day of the week display (in six languages).

A sapphire crystal protects the dial side while a screw-in metal caseback secures the back. The GMW-B5000-TVA1 has a depth rating of 200 meters. The GMW-B5000-TVA1 retail price is $1,650.
