Already released in Japan last month, these two G-Steel watches are the first from the redesigned slim GST-B400 collection to receive carbon-fiber bezels.

The GST-B400X-1A4JF (black PVD steel with resin strap) and GST-B400XD-1A2JF (stainless steel with matching bracelet) come in the same case as the existing collection, which we reviewed earlier this year, at 41 mm diameter x 12.99 mm, with a length of 46.5 mm lug-to-lug. Weighing in 74 grams (on a strap) and 154 grams (on bracelet), respectively, this collection, thanks to its new lightweight chequered carbon fiber bezel, are slightly lower in weight than the models with steel bezels which weigh 78.6 grams (on a strap) and 160.4 grams (on bracelet).

As with the original GST-B400 collection, the latest G-Steels solar power and Bluetooth link for ultra-precise timekeeping with no input from the user, and no need to wind or charge the watch. In addition to its hour and minute indications via analog hands — the watch features a stopwatch, world time function, countdown timer, 5 alarms, date (numerous formats and languages available), and dual on-demand LEDs. And like all G-Shocks, it’s built to withstand almost anything you throw at it with high shock resistance and a depth rating of 200 meters.

The stainless steel model (GST-B400XD-1A2) is not expected to be sold in the US while the black PVD (GST-B400X-1A4) model is expected to be sold in the US at a later date for around $400.
