During a recent meeting with Hublot, I photographed the MP-12 Key of Time Skeleton All Black which features a unique 53 mm x 51 mm x 23.15 mm case that’s made from titanium and treated with a black PVD coating and then micro-blasted to a matte finish.

In addition to a 120-hour power reserve with an indicator on the left lower quadrant of the dial, a horizontally mounted tourbillon with a vertical wheel that displays the running seconds (visible through the top and side-mounted crystals), and an in-house manufactured 512 component skeletonized movement – the MP-12 Key of Time has a very unusual feature that allows the wearer to speed up the time by four times or slow it down four times using the left crown. Similar to the Le Temps Suspendu by Hermes, even when the time is warped, it still keeps the correct time and allows you to go back.

The novelty time control function enables the user to set the watch to show 4 minutes elapsed in 1 minute or to show 15 seconds elapsed after 1 minute. This functionality utilizes a column-wheel mechanism, similar to which is used on a chronograph, even though this is not a chrono.

Water-resistance is 30 meters. The watch was produced in a limited edition of 20 numbered pieces. (Ref. 912.ND.0123.RX) Retail is over $288,000.
