The primary difference between a standard tourbillon (with a bridge supporting on the front and rear), is that a flying tourbillon has no upper bridge to support the tourbillon cage, it’s only supported from below. The reason for this is purely aesthetics, allowing you to see more of the mechanism as it oscillates.
