Developed in the Micro Artist Studio, Seiko’s facility in Shiojiri, Japan, where the Spring Drive Minute Repeater, Sonnerie, and Eichi watches for Credor were also created – the Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Power Reserve comes in a new 18K rose gold case with a unique black sparkling dial.

The dial is created using a special process that combines both plating and painting, along with five-faceted rose gold hands and hour markers. “The razor edge polishing of the hands and markers gives this creation the unique Grand Seiko signature, as does the exquisitely sharp mirror finish achieved by our new Zaratsu technique that was developed for the platinum version,” according to Grand Seiko.

Through the sapphire caseback, you can view the one-piece bridge, jewels, and power reserve indicator of the caliber 9R01 Spring Drive movement (which is a hybrid movement technology that’s proprietary to Seiko). The manually wound Japanese movement (37 mm x 7.1 mm) consists of 307 parts, 3 barrels, 56 jewels, and boasts an 8-day power reserve (192-hours). Accuracy is ±0.5 seconds per day.

Finished with a mirror “Zaratsu” polish, the watch case measures 43 mm x 13.2 mm, features a box sapphire crystal on the front, and a flat screw-in crystal on the back, and is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Power Reserve will be available in September 2017 for a retail price of $42,000. (Ref. SBGD202)
