Last Thursday, Hublot hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the U.S. debut of the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Titanium and Magic Gold timepieces at the Ferrari of New York showroom on Park Avenue. (Immediately following the Timecrafters press preview which was going on at the Park Avenue Armory, guests were driven to the reception at Ferrari.)
At the event was President and CEO of Ferrari North America, Marco Mattiacci and former NFL Super Bowl Champion wide receiver Plaxico Buress. Buress was wearing the Hublot Diver watch (pictured below). The most notable watch though, was the new Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold (pictured above), which not only solidifies the partnership between Ferrari and Hublot, it also shows off Hublot’s new proprietary material – Magic Gold – the product of extensive R&D. Magic Gold is scratch-resistant 18K gold.
The Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold and Big Bang Ferrari Titanium are presented in 45.5 mm cases and powered by the HUB 1241 Unico slef-winding chronograph flyback column wheel equipped movement, developed and manufactured in-house by Hublot.
The movement runs at a rate of 28,800 vph (4Hz), has 330 components and a power reserve of up to 72-hours. The Magic Gold case is polished with a matching bezel and 6 H-shaped black PVD titanium screws, countersunk, polished & locked. The Titanium case is satin-finish with matching bezel and 6 H-shaped countersunk, polished & locked screws.
The dial is sapphire with white Hublot logo transfer rhodium-plated Ferrari prancing horse applique satin-finished rhodium-plated or 2N gold-plated indexes. The hands are satin-finished rhodium-plated white SuperLuminovaTM (Titanium), or 2N gold-plated black SuperLuminovaTM (Magic Gold). The minute counter hand is fittingly coated in Ferrari red.
Sapphire crystal with interior/exterior anti-reflective coating. Case back micro-blasted and polished black PVD titanium sapphire crystal with interior anti-reflective treatment. Oscillating weight in satin-finished and micro-blasted black coating, imitating the shape of a wheel rim.
Water-resistance 100 meters. Black rubber strap with central rubber decoration, alcantara and tone-on-tone stitching; or black rubber, scedoni leather and tone-on-tone stitching. Deployant buckle in satin-finished black PVD titanium with carbon insert (Titanium); or satin-finished titanium with carbon insert (Magic Gold).
