This is the new HYT Skull which features a Skull motif in the middle of the dial, like the H1 and H2, a fluid-filled tube that runs around the edge of the dial, indicating the hour. The retrograde display slowly fills up with green or red fluorescent (no luminescent) fluid as the hours of the day pass by.

Admittedly, the attraction to Skull dials is a bit eerie, but HYT is definitely not the first company to design a wristwatch around such an object.

HYT CEO, Vincent Perriard lends a bit of perspective to why the HYT Skull watch is different, “Simply taking an existing movement, giving it a vague skull shape and presenting it as an entirely new piece is not really our style.” He goes on to say, “We always want to see how far we can go in terms of design and engineering. Our objective was to create a Skull that completely breaks away from everything you normally see, while still embodying the very DNA of HYT – a bold, conceptual, technical, and original design”

If the old HYT H1 and H2 are not big and bold enough for you, then you may be pleased with the addition of a Skull design right in the middle of the dial, and a case which has been enlarged from 48.8 mm to 51 mm (same thickness at 17.9 mm).

The HYT Skull is offered in two limited versions: 50 pieces, produced in DLC titanium with green fluid, and 25 pieces in 5N rose gold and black DLC titanium, featuring red fluid. The first pieces will be available from May 2015.
