Hublot announced their partnership with the renowned designer Yohji Yamamoto earlier this year — and today the second piece from the collaboration has been revealed.

Tagged as anti-fashion, Yohji Yamamoto is a so-called “intellectual rebel” who has revolutionized fashion and design — using fabrics woven by artisans in Japan, and most in black. He already created the look for the monotone Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto earlier in 2020, and now he’s added splashes of color by way of a bold and colorful camouflage on the dial and strap.

“This camouflage print harks back to his previous workwear collection and highlights the fact that the act of choosing our clothing is an expression of our role and recognition in society. The use of this textile is a statement of respect for the artisans and contains a message about the value and preservation of the beautiful work performed by the hands and the body,” according to Hublot.

The original construction of the camouflage print dial carries over onto the strap where each of the constituent shapes of the outline is cut out individually, assembled, and then fused together using the vulcanization process. This is a brand new technology for the watchmaking sector, originally introduced n 2019, which Hublot says makes them the first brand to use vulcanization In the creation of its straps.

Introducing the Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto. Cut from a matte black ceramic block, the case measures 45 mm x 15.45 mm and features a matching micro-blasted and polished black ceramic bezel and caseback. The sapphire dial features superimposed outlines that form biomorphic patches in an echo of the artist’s camouflage motif, with his signature at 6 o’clock.

Driving the time and chronograph functions is Unico in-house caliber HUB1242 which is a 4Hz automatic that has 330 total components, 38 jewels, and a 72-hour power reserve. The chronograph is equipped with a column-wheel and a flyback function that allows you to restart the chronograph without stopping and resetting it.

The Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto is produced in a numbered limited edition of 200 pieces and includes both the black rubber strap with Yamamoto-designed camouflage aesthetic and a black fabric strap with a micro blasted black ceramic clasp.
