Patek Philippe unveiled a stainless steel limited-edition watch today that marks the inauguration of its new manufacture building in Plan-les-Ouates.
To celebrate the completion of the building, Patek Philippe created the Limited Edition Calatrava Ref. 6007A. Similar to the Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A from 2019, the Calatrava Ref. 6007A is housed in a stainless steel case — a metal that Patek Philippe collectors covet. The aesthetic veers more towards casual than dressy, like the Calatrava 5212A. However, the 5212A is not strictly a limited edition, just limited in production like all Patek Philippe timepieces are by total annual output.
The Patek Philippe Limited Edition Calatrava Ref. 6007A-011 is presented in a 40 mm x 9.07 mm fully polished case with a curved fixed bezel and a gray-blue dial and carbon fiber-style stamped guilloche pattern in the center of the dial, similar to the center of the Ref. 5208T timepiece that sold at Only Watch 2017.
In addition to the decorative “carbon” style embossed center of the sector dial, there are three additional finishes. The outermost ring, which has a printed minutes/seconds scale, has a radial brushed surface. Just inside of this, the main ring features white gold luminescent Arabic hour numerals that have been hand applied on the circular satin-finished section. Inside of this is a white scale that is printed on a circular stamped guilloche ring that can be used to read hours, minutes, or seconds.
The hands are made from white gold with white lacquered baton-style hour and minute hands with luminescent coatings and white lacquered baton-shaped sweeping center seconds hand. An aperture at 3 o’clock indicates the date.
Patek Philippe’s widely used caliber 324 S C drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and date functions. The automatic winding movement has a gold oscillating weight engraved with the Patek Philippe cross, the bridges are finished with prominent Geneva stripes, and the mainplate is decorated with a perlage motif. Beating at 4Hz the movement has 213 components, 29 jewels, a free-spring balance wheel, and a 45-hour power reserve.
This limited edition produced in a quantity of just 1,000 pieces to commemorate the opening of the new Patek Philippe Manufacture (PP6). Each piece is delivered with a gray-blue calfskin leather strap uniquely embossed with a fabric pattern so that it looks more like a textile strap than one made from leather. Water-resistance is 30 meters and the sapphire case back is decorated with the Calatrava cross and the inscription “New Manufacture 2019.” The new factory was completed in 2020, however, 2019 is the year when the first groups moved into the new PP6 production building.
The Calatrava Ref. 6007A retail price is $28,351.
