Earlier this month, German watchmaker, Junghans, debuted a new version of the Meister Chronoscope.
The latest Meister Chronoscope is presented in the same size 40.7 mm x 13.9 mm stainless steel case as previous models, but with a new PVD rose gold treatment and a night blue sunray brushed dial.
Protecting the dial is a domed plexiglass crystal with a coating that reduces scratches, however, for an additional charge, this can be replaced with a sapphire crystal. On the back, there’s a flat mineral crystal secured to the caseback with 5 screws.
A curved dial is punctuated with hours and minutes via gold plated Dauphine-shaped hands, long thin white hash marks for the hours, with applied gold plated indices at the poles (12, 3, 6, 9), and shorter white hash marks for the minutes/seconds open chapter ring. The subdials, including small seconds, the 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters, as well as the central chronograph seconds hand are baton-shaped and gold plated. (The aperture at 3 o’clock indicates the day and date and can be ordered in German or English.)
Driving the timekeeping and date functions is an outsourced automatic chronograph movement that beats at 4Hz, with a 48-hour power reserve. The J880.1 movement features rhodium plating, a rotor surface with stripes and engraved logo, diamond cut on the barrel, wheel train, balance bridge, and blued screws.
The Junghans Meister Chronoscope comes with a dark blue alligator leather strap and gold plated pin buckle. Water-resistance is 30 meters. (Ref. 027/7924.00)
