Made exclusively for the Chinese market, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Infrared follows the Quasar Infrared, which was also released in just that region of the world.

The Laureato Absolute Infrared is presented in a 44 mm x 14.65 mm octagonal-shaped grade 5 titanium case that’s been treated with a black PVD coating.

Set against a forged carbon fiber dial, the face of the watch has an uncluttered aesthetic with applied PVD treated baton-shaped indices — filled with red-colored luminous material — mounted at an angle and connected to both the dial and the flange. The flange is gray with a black printed minute/second track. Thick baton-shaped hour and minute hands, with red luminous tips, complete the “infrared” look.

Perhaps the best change compared to past Laureatos, is that the applied rhodium-plated GP logo, now sits below the 12 o’clock hour marker, instead of acting as the marker as it has on most modern editions of the watch.

A solid caseback is secured by 6 screws which is unusual considering the high 300 meters water resistance rating which usually means the back is screwed-in. Underneath the caseback is automatic in-house caliber GP03300-1060 which beats at 4Hz, measures 25.95 x 3.36 mm, has 218 components, 27 jewels, and a 46-hour power reserve.

Completing the unique all black and red theme is a black rubber strap with fabric effect and red contrast stitching with a black PVD titanium folding buckle with a micro-adjustment system

The Laureato Absolute Infrared (Ref. 81070-21-631-FF6A), limited to 88 pieces, is available in Girard-Perregaux official retailers across China from June 2021. Retail is approximately $12,000 (RMB 79,330/CHF 10,680).
