Today, Laurent Ferrier debuted the special edition Galet Square Porcelain which is distinguished by a dial that is made by hand using a kaolin-based substance and finished by firing it at 1400°C/2550°F. The result is a white porcelain that is coated with a layer of transparent enamel that gives it a unique sheen.

There are ten anthracite Breguet numerals, with a scarlet red numeral at 12, and just a diamond-shaped marker at 6 o’clock, due to the location of the small seconds subdial. The outer minute ring has gold circular minute dots and four diamond-shape gold markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12.

Laurent Ferrier’s signature “assegai-shaped” hands are in ruthenium-plated white gold and are used for hours and minutes, with a baton-shaped hand in the same finish for the seconds.

The cushion or square-shaped “pebble” case measures the same dimensions (41 mm x 41 mm by 11.10 mm thick) as with past models and is crafted in 18K white gold that has been fully polished. It features a flat onion-shaped crown. The sapphire caseback is a snap-on design. Water-resistance is 30 meters.

As with past models, the movement, automatic caliber FBN 229.01 (31.60 mm x 4.35 mm), beats at 3Hz (21,600 vph), has 35 jewels, 186 total components, is equipped with a unidirectional pawl-fitted micro-rotor, and has a 72-hour power reserve (3-days). The in-house movement has a silicon escapement and a double direct impulse.

According to the manufacture, “This technology developed by Laurent Ferrier enables the balance to be impelled twice per oscillation, a principle that requires two escape-wheels and an appropriately shaped lever. This innovative construction, combined with the use of cutting-edge materials, maximises energy efficiency, thereby guaranteeing a high amplitude of the balance. This, in turn, reduces the amount of mechanical force required to wind the mainspring and optimises winding.”

The movement features Côtes de Genève motif on the bridges, circular graining on the mainplate, the wheel spokes are beveled, and the screw heads are chamfered and polished.
The retail price is $64,000.
